I'm a very enthusiastic amateur photographer and I'm quite happy for it to stay that way. Photography is my escape from the working world, where I write software to torture test cellular networks. My photographic interests are varied, from landscape to street to architecture to anything else I can point my camera at.

Since 2004, I've been a technical assistant, helping a local photographer with weekend photography workshops. More recently (since 2006), I've been an assistant for the same photographer on photography tours in the United States, Mexico and Croatia.

Home Town: Port Huron, Michigan, USA
Camera: Nikon D7000
Lenses: Nikkor 50mm 1.8D, Sigma 70-300

I have been a photographer since I was a young boy. My parents had bought me a Kodak disc camera that I took everywhere. After a few years of that, I started using my dad's Minolta SRT102. Once he upgraded to a more automatic Minolta Maxxum 5000 (which I later inherited as well), I was given the SRT102 as my own. Being mostly a hobby, it was an on and off love affair with photography over the years. My honeymoon to Tobermory sparked the flame as I used my dad's Maxxum to document our adventures waterfall hunting in Canada. A few years later, I bought my first digital SLR and I've been hooked ever since. Now I am semi-pro, being picky about the jobs I do for now, and mostly shooting for fun and learning.

I am a member of the National Press Photographers Association and the Michigan Press Photographer Association. My work has long centered on sports photography, from the time I began coaching track & field in 1976 and ensured each of my athletes received a competition photograph as a memento. My photographs have appeared in such national publications as Inside Lacrosse Magazine, Runner's World, Track & Field Magazine, American Athlete, Parade Magazine and locally in newsprint with the Macomb Daily, Grosse Pointe News, C&G Newspapers, The Detroit Free Press and I provide countless photographs for yearbooks and websites at numerous high schools, colleges, universities and for official sports guides and camp brochures.

Paul Turner

Home Town: South Woodham Ferrers, Essex, United Kingdom
Cameras: Nikon D300, Nikon D40
Lenses: Nikon 16-85mm, various other Nikon, Tokina and Tamron lenses

Photography is strictly a hobby and I have been a Nikon DSLR user since 2005. I use Adobe Photoshop CS5 for post processing. My favourite genre is landscapes, especially at sunrise and I also dabble with family portraits and macro. I am also interested in ham radio, electronics, computing, programming, web design and guitar playing. Many hobbies and unfortunately I am master of none!

Patricia Blackstock

Home Town: Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, USA
Cameras: Canon Rebel XTi, Canon S95
Lenses: Canon 28-200mm, Sigma 10-20mm

Photography is a hobby for me, but a serious one. I got interested in cameras in 2007. I've taken a couple photography courses, but I've learned the most from participating in photo forums such as LightCafe.

I graduated from UNC-Charlotte and spent my working career at The Roanoke Times, VA. I've done web design and SEO, and I'm currently using Adobe Photoshop CS5 for post-processing.
