Sending my 40D back to Canon for the FOURTH and final time! Canon replaced the shutter the first time then two drive motors later..guess what took a shitter this weekend at my neice's college graduation/ !!@!!! It's another warranty fix but I'm trading it in for a 7D. I've had it two years and I have not had 6 month period without having it repaired again and again.

I had my trusty 10D as backup. My 8 year old 10D is still clicking flawlessly but the newer 40D is.......(insert a very bad word grouping)...... !!!!

Dang bad luck, my Dads 40D is cranking along with not a problem at all. Sometimes you just get that cursed unit. Still I am almost envying the move to the 7D.

Ow, sorry to hear this Phil - sometimes you just get a copy where enough little things are wrong to keep knocking it out of whack. Best of luck with the 7D, hope that gives you more pleasure and use.

I have composed my demeanor and will offer a farewell to 40D.

Canon 40D, our time together was short but was lived full frame.

You went out on top, three photos in the newspaper the past few weeks, an appearance on the University of Notre Dame webpage...
You're drive motor may have been weak but your CMOS was strong...it never gave up, never surrendered!
You had a few battle scars as many warriors are burdened to carry; reminders of the Urban Spelunking in Detroit, cliffs at 11,0000 feet in the Rockies and a heroic moment protecting your photographer from a deranged Canada Goose. Beerfest in Prague now a distant memory, but you created a photobook for future generations to enjoy. Can we ever forget the winning photo for the 2007 WJR photo contest that gave us the wonderful Detroit Tiger season tickets?

I'll never forget the first click, a keeper of a female Mallard in flight over the North Channel. ( tear running down my cheek).

7D may succeed you but it will never erase your memories from our prints.
