Lost interest - season too long - no more Canadian teams in the playoffs.

Moved on, with only mild interest, to the World Championships, where you yanks were really jobbed yesterday. Finland's first goal, which lead to a 3 goal comeback in the 3rd, very clearly went in through the side of the net. I mean, it wasn't even close. The overhead video showed it very clearly, but even after video review, the goal was allowed to stand. Tortorella was (rightfully) blowing a gasket on the bench. The IIHF has fired the video goal judge.

The win by the Fins hurts Canada as well. If the US had beat the Fins, Canada would have locked up first place in the 2nd round. Now they have to beat the Fins today to stay in first.

I really came to like Malkin this year so have been rooting for the Penguins. Now that they are playing Philly...kind of torn, I always like Biron and want to see him win....but at the same time would rather not see Briere win anymore....and I like Malkin...

I think Malkin should get traded to the Sabres.

5-2 Wings win again.....wow....9 in a row for Osgood. Hasek's hang nail is still healing. :D Frazen is still in Detroit so he is out for at least two games. The Stars forgot to play defense last night, they were really finally pushing the puck up offensively but forget to get back. It's okay that you guys "hate"  the Wings, so do the announcers. Don Cherry pulled one of those "when I played in the NHL" quotes. He called Red Wing fans a bunch of Rednecks and the team didn't have enough Canadian's etc.. They weren't the best team in the league this year...uh exucuse me, look at the records. Hell when he played his 'one day' in the NHL the tire hadn't been invented! Somehow he should remember that there are more than six teams in the league since his one day of play. The other idiot, former player, who was so famous his name still eludes me is still wearing a mullet...now that's a redneck.

I do have a peeve with players and announcers etc...that claim ' we are better than our record or we played well enough to win but didn't bring it home., those types of quotes. #1 you are not better than your record, you are exactly what your record states. If your team is 15-45 then you suck...period. #2 NO...you did not play well enough to win because (a drum roll please) you LOST the game.

A Message To Mr Cherry:

Dallas did not play well enough to win the first two games because they LOST. At this very moment Dallas is not the better team...they are down 3-0. The better team is up 3-0. It could change and Dallas could win 4 in a row, it happens, but until then they are not the better team and they are not playing well enough to win.

And to the other idiot: 1978 called, it wants your mullet and white belt back!

We stayed most of the day Sunday checking out the boardwalk etc...the city pretty much shuts down. As we entered the gates anyone in Red Wings gear was being asked "do you have an octopus on your person?"

It's been called allot of things but never an Octopus! No, the area shops would not sell to anyone in Red Wing gear. A Michigan resident did toss one out just prior to the opening face off and was escorted out of the building. He was "featured" as hero status in today's paper. We were lucky to fall into free tickets.

$169.00 gasoline
$94.00 hotel
$130.00 "meals"
Watching Crosby cry (again) Priceless

Congrats to the big red machine for another Stanley Cup Championship.

We'll be slipping out of work to go down to the parade tomorrow just like we did back in 2002. :D Yeah a Canadian team will win again just not Toronto. Now I can change my avatar.

Winners over whiners.

I was pulling for Detroit. Wanted to see a Euro captain hoist the cup for the first time, so we can stop hearing this "a Euro captain will never win it" crap.

Toronto is in so much disarray, it'll be a few years yet before they're a contender.

Yeah, we had him. Got rid of him because he wanted too much money and couldn't perform in the playoffs.

I heard Melrose took a coaching job...was it one of the Florida teams?

Anywho, that way Eastsider gets to not hear him as often but see him a couple times every year.

I hope the team has a haircut policy and I hope the bum flops. There were a few banners / posters at the Red Wing parade commenting on Cherry and Melrose, none with a positive message. The tamest would be "Detroit Red Wings: Champions.....Don Cherry: Asshole" I can't wait for Melrose to come to Joe Louis Arena...
