I heard it was an exciting game, had to miss that one and forgot to Tivo. If it was deliberate as stated that's not cool. And you're right, there should be consistency across the league.

On a happier note, that was our 8th win in a row at home. :-)

Pronger may not get off quite so cleanly after all. The NHL has announced that they are now looking at the new, clearer video that has become available, and have schedule a hearing with the goon this evening.

8 games for the dirty, classless cheapshot goon. I probably would have given him 10, but I'm fine with 8 as a minimum. That'll have him back for one game to do something stupid and get himself suspended for the playoffs.

Should have been a longer suspension. I saw the tape for the first time tonight, previous reports were "He was not stomping, his foot just came down on his leg"...LMAO no, he was stomping.

Sabres showed up two games in a row...if they can do that for 5 of their last 9 they may get to play in the first round.

Hmmm, an Ottawa/Buffalo first round maybe? It's a possibility, but both teams will have to have great finishes to the season for that to happen.

Pronger's stomp is being compared to Chris Simon's. As much as I hate the guy, I don't think he deserves the same as Simon got for two reasons: 1) Kesler was clearly trying to tie up Pronger's leg 2) Simon had just come off a 25 game suspension for his brain fart at the end of last season. I think 8 games was the minimum he should get, so I think it's ok, but would rather have seen him get more like 10-12.

Our girls hockey team that made to the state semi-finals this year showcase a latent talent. Or maybe just a team building exercise.

Good for them. :)

Several game matter to my Sabres today....and all the wrong teams are winning right now.

Sabres played a great first period against the lightning...then SUCKED in the second period.

Now in the third they just scored 3 goals in about 3 minutes to get back to even.

They so need this win.

Great play by the Sabres or a total melt down by Tampa?

A little of both. The Sabres came out pressing hard and Tampa seemed willing to back up, scored immediately after a draw about 4 minutes into the third, then about 10 seconds later the same shift on the ice.

The rest of the period Tampa seemed willing to give up ice to the forwards, either the Sabres were simply raising the game to a level Tampa could not keep up with or they wore them out in the first two periods.

Hey Kurt, you'll be happy to know that Chris Neil is returning to the Sens lineup tomorrow night against the Leafs. I know how much you like him as a player, so you'll be very happy that he'll be ready to play against the Sabres on Tuesday and Thursday. :D

Games about over, Sabres did not play bad but could not score.

That is the one loss we can afford in the playoff push, not the team we wanted to lose too. The Leaf's goalie played very well...Toskala

So its the push to the playoffs, and to keep the longest thread in LC history going...

NHL Standings

03 Hurricanes 76 41 30 5 87 232 233 22-12-3 19-18-2 8-2-0
04 Devils 75 42 26 7 91 191 180 22-13-2 20-13-5 5-4-1

08 Bruins 75 37 28 10 84 193 209 19-15-4 18-13-6 2-4-4

________________________________________________
09 Capitals 76 37 31 8 82 221 223 20-15-3 17-16-5 7-3-0

15 Lightning 75 29 38 8 66 211 245 18-17-2 11-21-6 3-6-1

The team below the line in red can still mathematically make a run to get in.

Tonight the Sens meet the Pens. In theory I guess the Sabres could catch them...just hope the Sens have to expel too much energy to have a real shot at winning tomorrow night.

Nope, the Sens play the Habs tonight.

I'm out tomorrow night, so will have to tape the Sens/Sabres game, and watch it when I get. I'll be at the rematch on Thursday though.

I wish the Sens were playing the Pens tonight. Things are looking real ugly in Montreal tonight. 6-1 and we're still in the second period. Senators are looking awful.

I'll be watching it on HD! I don't know why we get so many Sabre games televised here. ESPN's, FOX, the Canuck stations etc..

OUCH 7-1..that's gotta hurt Mike!!!

It was 5-1 a few minutes ago, have to admit its nice seeing them lose. If they lose the rest of the games they move into the done for the year area below the line.

I don't think that'll happen, although I do think it's gonna be a short playoff season for them.

They're obviously going to lose this game, but hopefully then can win the 3rd so they have something to take into Buffalo tomorrow night.
