Neither team playing as well as they have the past couple years.

Sabres need to hire a new special teams coach, they have suffered the past two years without one since their last took a job in the minors as a head coach. If the power play was even just good enough to have scored 10 more goals this year they would not be in the position they are in needing every win to get in.

1-1 after two.

Lets play 20 minutes for the 2 points. Missed the first goal...the kid for Ottawa made a great save behind the goalie...then Roy made a great move to tie it up.

Had to record the game, since I was out at a juniour game tonight. Just finished watching it.

Nice come back win for the Sens tonight. Played a hell of a lot better than they did last night (it would be hard to play worse). Really impressed with Brian Lee in his NHL debut. He'll be a keeper, and has an excellent shot to make the big club full time next season. If he keeps playing the way he did tonight, they can just keep Redden in the press box.

Any combination of 3 points won by Sens or lost by the Caps will clinch a spot for the Sens.

The Flyers, Rangers, Caps and Bruins all winning tonight is bad news for the Sabres. They really needed the points to keep pace. Gonna take a miracle now for them to make the playoffs I'm afraid.

Hmmm, Kurt seems to be avoiding the forum today, so he doesn't have to use the fine avatar I sent him last night ;)

Re-doing the aluminum roof coating on the tv room and shopping with the kids today...

I thought for sure I would be giving you the new avitar after it was 3-1...sabres just quit playing.

Oh well, next season.

This is it, the final meeting between the Sens and the Sabres. A win for the Sens tonight, along with a Caps loss, clinches a playoff spot for them. A loss for the Sabres all but kills their playoff hopes (if they're not dead already).

This will also bring to a close the running bet between Kurt & myself. One last chance to see who's avatar will be sacraficed. :D

Mikes new avitar is on its way via email too him.

I think the Sabres even with the OT/Shootout win are about done. Cannot believe they actually won a shootout.

Awful game tonight, not just for the Sens, but overall just a terrible game. No flow, sloppy play by both teams, bad goals on both goalies. Just bad play overall.

I've said it when the Sens win, and I'll say it when they lose, I hate shootouts! It's not hockey. It takes one of the most team oriented sports there is and turns it into a one-on-one skills competition. Get rid of it. I'd rather see games end in a tie. Flipping a coin at center ice is just as valid as a shootout.

I think you took it easy on me Kurt, although personally, I do like Bryan Murray.

I have nothing against the man, but think the previous coach would have ended up with pretty much the same record if not better.

Hey! Your avatar is mine for a week! Just because the Sens lost tonight doesn't get you out of Tuesday's loss.

Oh well, you did leave the last one up longer than you had to, and you went easy on me, so I'll let it slide.

Would have to go re-read the original thread.

Well, as I sit in the airport at Frankfurtter...paying 8 Euro for an hour of internet access...

I guess not being able to watch the NHL playoffs this year is a good thing, since the Sabres were eliminated last night.

Well, they did it by sliding in on their butts, but for the 11th straight season the Senators have clinched a playoff spot. Not because they won tonight (they didn't), but because Carolina lost.

We can erase the records now, the real season starts on Wednesday.

I was able to catch the end of the first period of a game between Detroit and Nashville last night around 10pm...at the intermission they stated that the Sens were stinking it up against the Penguins.

Made it sound as though the entire Senators team were a bunch of thugs who were simply outskated. Did not catch the names of the sportscasters talking, but they were very negative toward Mikes Sens.

Is that how the game played out?

I didn't get to see the first two games, and it sounds like I'm better off for it. I also won't get to see the third. If the Sens don't "get in" the playoffs pretty damned soon, I may only get to watch one game :(

Well, to the glee of many in this thread (coughMIKEcough) the Ducks are sucking up their first (and likely only) round. They've played their two worst games of the season against the Stars. Last night was 5-2 Stars. WTF!

So yeah, cup repeat hopes pretty much dashed. Really sucks.

I will get to catch some if not all of the flyers/caps today before going to sleep thanks to it being an afternoon game and on AFN.

The first chance I will have to watch a Sens/Pens game is Game 5...so the Sens will have to win one first.

Caught the second overtime of the Flyers/Caps game this morning while getting ready for work. (Live) thats the time delay...anyway thats one tough fought series.

Was looking forward to a Sens/Pens game this afternoon...guess thats not happening now.

Well the Ducks are out. Once again the reigning cup holders can't make it past the first round. 3 year history: Finalist, Winner, out in the first round. Blegh. I hate that sinking feeling that sticks around after your team loses. Like a black cloud is following you everywhere. (Doing MUCH better today then last night.) I'd just like to know where our defense went, not to mention their physical game? 2 goals in the first 2 minutes of the third period. Are you kidding me???

So which of you fans still has a team in? Only Eastsider's Red Wings, right?

Well, for the last 1.5 weeks, I've been a Dallas fan :D

Anything that keeps Pronger's name from tarnishing the cup again is a good thing. Not to mention that bullshit they pulled with Selanne and Neidermeyer.

Now I'm hoping for a longshot - Montreal/Calgary final, and I don't really care which one of them wins after that.

Well, at least one of our teams is still alive. I think a few post back I mentioned if it wasn't the wings I thought Dallas would be the team and here we are Dalas vs. Detroit. We've won 8 straight games so Dallas by just the odds should win the next game.

Go Wings
