no negative comments. I learned lots over there. I told my husband about it (he really doesn't get the internet forum thing) and I said the lesson learned for me is that drama is everywhere. there's no avoiding it really, even when you try.

This such a great site Frank and happy you found the rest of us. I wasn't banned but quit and asked to have my account deleted because Tom accused me of recruiting to the Camel just because I started posting there and publicly demoted me as Moderator publicly without speaking with me first. Geesh. He had such a good thing going and worked hard along with his dedicated Moderators. Not sure what happened to his state of mind but it just escalated and now Nems is doomed. Sad indeed but the silver lining is we are still all together and are in happier times. Happy you are here!

Yeah. They didn't even ban me, and I'm the evil one. Haven't posted in a couple of years either, so hi to everyone I don't know, and hi to those I do also.

I guess Tom's last ditch effort to invite everyone he banned back didn't work. Never wished his site would fold but you cannot treat people like he did and expect them to come back. I never did anything more than joining this site.

PT is PhotoTakers, a defunct photo forum that most of the original members of LC (Light Café ;) ) came from.

NEM is New England Moments, another photography forum that many of the more recent LC members came from. For reasons unknown (to me anyway), the person who runs that forum (a former member of PT) holds some type of grudge against us and banned several people from his forum because they joined this forum. Not sure what the logic is behind that, but it's his choice.

So it seems he's either banned everyone or folks just got tired of his paranoia. Sad really because it was a lot of fun and he was nice at one time. Not sure what happened to make him suspect we were all out to farm his photographers to move elsewhere. He had something special and I still miss the old days...but at least the cream of the crop are here!!! I was a moderator there and was banned because I was also on the camel site. Go figure. I am very sorry to hear he is closing it down in October. I was hoping he would make a go of it with new people.

Funny at the same time he was on PC.

I agree that at one time he had it all together then suddenly he plunged into an abyss,

Funny thing he had asked to become a mod at PC shortly after I was banned. He still pops over now and then. He does take really nice photos.... sigh. People can be funny and hard to understand.

Kate, you are very forgiving. The old days at NEM's were good for many of us. Me, with my first "real" camera in 2007. That was where I learned that oceans should not tilt. Doc - about 50 tmes - "Straighten yout horizon and you MIGHT have a real picture." :D You were one of the many photographters who showed me what could be achieved. Those days are gone, but I now look back, smile, and remember all the good times!

P.S. Doc (Gene) has hung up his photography hat in favor of retirement. I hope one day he'll get involved again. Rick is VERY active in serious racing and climbing with his wife Fiona. He pops in here now and then.

I was wondering what happened to Gene. He is one of the best photohshop teachers around! I too hope to see him around again someday. Its good to hear Rick is doing well and enjoying life...and is still here once in a while. Thanks for sharing this news. :-)

I just received a private e-mail from Tom, the owner of NEMs, asking me to clear up this rumour. NEMs is NOT closing in October.

At this time, I suggest we all move on from this. NEMs is a good forum with some great members. So is Light Café. Tom has taken some actions against some of his members in the past, for reasons I don't fully understand. But as I have stated in the past, it is his forum and he can chose to do as he likes. It is time to just let NEMs be NEMs and LC be LC.

I am going to lock this thread.

...Mike

You are correct Mike. As Tom wrote to me in a recent email "it's water under the bridge", let it go.
