I'm by no means a portrait photographer, and I have the greatest respect for those you who are. And that's why I'm sharing this in Fireside Chat instead of Portraits. C&C is always welcome, just don't be too hard on me!

Very nice, Patrish!

Love the toy in the pooches mouth! It's a good shot for the equipment on hand. Going with the larger f/stop helps the flash get rid of unwanted backgrounds, a bit more light on the top Mikes head would be a nit. I used f4.6 and highert at our family Christmas party to get rid of chairs and other people in the background when using a flash. Oh, I did a video of the party. I'll send you a link via PM.

Awwwww very cute Patrish, what handsome men you've got there (not sure I'm including Jaxon in that lol)

I would probably clean up the lighter areas around Mike's arms, or even lighten the background more, as to
me the black is too sudden and a bit harsh, like they're sitting on the very edge of a floor canyon lol...
Love the shot though and would like to see more!

Sorry about not responding to your comments sooner. Aaron, thanks for looking, and for not telling me that my stab at portrait photography sucked! LOL!

Phil, thanks for the suggestions. Even if I never get to be proficient at this type of photography, I know there will be times when I want to take shots of family and friends, and I want them to be good.

Good....that's the kind of thing I need to hear.
BTW where is the party video????

Mia, I won't tell Jaxon you don't think he's handsome. LOL! It is almost impossible to take his toys away from him. As long as he has one in his mouth, he thinks there's a chance someone might play with him.

Thanks again, y'all!
