The motherboard failed on my computer. :( I've been having a few crash blue screens "hardware" the past two months but finally the computer just stopped working. Guess I'll see what the cost is to replace the lemon board, at least that is the general consensus online that HP mismatched the motherboard and the Intel i7 950 processor. The IT guy at work said to purchase the ASUS Sabertooth X58. He added to buy from Newegg for the best price but I am noticing about the same 195.00 cost on most sites.

I'll be pulling out an unused laptop to see if i can bring it up to speed.

Is there any reason he is recommending the sabertooth?

I personally would recommend MicroCenter over NewEgg since we live close to a store. I've had to return motherboards before that were not quite right or had an issue I couldn't deal with. Shipping would have cost a fortune. The Sabertooth is only 5 bucks more at Microcenter. Small price to pay for that 30 days to take it back.

Also, there is a GigaByte board there that is a little cheaper with a rebate. http://www.microcenter.com/single_produ ... id=0327331

Asus makes great products. I am running one of their P67 boards now that is taking my I5 3.2 Ghz to 4.3 GHz. My memory is overclocked too. For an I5, I am getting the same performance numbers as a stock I7 2600 for $100 cheaper. Anyway, I've had good luck with GigaByte in general as well, and they have the same overclocking capabilities if you are into that.

Thanks Aaron, I'll swing by the store tomorrow.

Today I'm off to Home Depot and Lowes trying to figure out a display for our Wood Re New booth at the Silverdome's Michigan Home & Garden Show March 9-11 . We have to 7 foot banners with before & after photos but that's it so far.
