Been lurking for a little while thanks to PaulT who pointed me in this direction, im a complete Novice who has always had an interest in photography but due to lots of different things never actually got round to it, well im here and the learning curve is steep, I purchased a D80 2nd hand from Evilbay and have a couple of lenses to go with it so please go easy on me, I will post my first two images on the Macro thread, thanks to Paul who loaned me his Tamron macro Lens, never used one before but having a great time with it, got to give it back tomorrow so now ive got to save my pennies to get one for myself
Im originally from the North of England (Cumbria) but left in 84 when I joined the RAF, been living around various parts of the world and UK since then, after living in Spain for the last 6 years im now back and living in Essex, only a few miles from Paul, I have a large family, 5 kids, aged from 10 down to 4 weeks old (I know, glutton for punishment) I did have a foray into photography many many years ago, in the late 80s, I bought a Canon AV1 and then an Olympus OM10 but slipped into obscurity for the next 20 odd years with various things (As PaulT knows , we share an interest in another Hobby)
So thats who I am, ive enjoyed my weeks lurking in the shadows but Paul has encouraged me to be a big brave boy and post an image or two

Thanks for the welcome along, I just wanted to share with you the picture that I came across which sort of Sparked my re-entry into learning Photography, I had an old Canon AE-1 when I lived in Cyprus about 20 years ago, the Red Arrows Display Team practiced of the island every year and they were practising near the beach I just happened to be on, I was a complete novice then, (just like now) but just happened to be in the right place at the right time to grab this shot, nothing spectularly sharp or great and the scan is not great but I just wanted to share with you the shot that I found a few months ago which sparked my interest again, so with a gap of 20 years i find myself back where I started

That shot redefines the term "right place at the right time". A few milliseconds earlier or later and it wouldn't have been so good. Well done!
