I've done this challenge before, but I'm gonna do it again. I want to see your best of THIS week (Sept 25-Oct 2). One photo, taken during the challenge period. Any subject, any processing*, anything you like. You may change your entry anytime, or if you post more than one, I will consider the last one you post. I will choose the winner sometime on Oct 3rd.

* most of you should know my tastes by now, but in case you don't, I don't like heavy processing. I prefer photographs that look natural. Over-cooked HDR or selective colour will likely not fare well.

I guess this falls outside the time period by a few hours, taken Saturday afternoon as my niece was getting her hair done for her wedding, they had a pro at the ceremony and reception but not at the house.

The weeks young Mike, but this one was taken on 9/26 so here ya go. I know I'll get "dinged" for not cropping it, but I wanted SOOC.

I don't have an ID on the bird yet but this was taken about an hour ago. The sun finally showed up for about an hour so I took advantage of it. If the Eagles cooperate this weekend this one will be replaced. :D It's a Warbler of some sort....a new one in my yard. :)

Image

EDIT: Found out this is a Common Yellowthroat. Not too "common" in my yard though...first time seeing one here. :D

I had a photo session with Marjolein on September 26th, she wanted some portraits for her
new website. This is one that I just edited....

I changed this one to another one... The one that she likes the best herself...

We met some friends for appetizers and Happy Hour drinks at a little beachfront bar and grill tonight.
With the contest in mind, I brought my camera and snapped this picture, just before sunset.

My sports have been getting cancelled due to rain, rain and more rain. :(

Soccer, field hockey and tennis not played this week. I managed about 50 shots of a cross country race using ISO 2600 f/4 in a light rain but as the clouds became darker there wasn't any reason to keep snapping. I positioned myself in the middle of a small hill hoping the 1/160th would capture a usable image, the canopy of trees helped keep my equipment somewhat dry. If the weather clears, I'll give cross country another try tomorrow. For now this is my submission.

Just to throw in my own (ineligible) entry. Taken on Friday night. I'll be out shooting again this evening, so it may change.

Well, I was hoping for something different but this one will have to do for my entry. I think for me it's a good way to end a slow Hummingbird season with a natural feeding image. This is the young female that's still here as of today. This was taken this past Friday.

Just sneaking this one in, sorry Mike I know your dislike for processed stuff but its all I got, my eldest daughter has my laptop with all my editing software and original files on it (shes doing her homework)so just pulled this from my site, taken last Sunday, its my friends daughter, its just desaturated so not a huge amount of processing done to it

Just for info, taken with single SB-26 speedlight, 1/2 power into a 100cm shoot through brolly, which is sort of dented now as it fell over :D

I have no problem with processing. I just don't like gimmicky, overcooked type processing. Hey, even HDR done right is fine with me (done right means it isn't obviously HDR).

Anyway, I kinda forgot I had to pick a winner today. I'm headed out for the evening, but I shouldn't be too late. I'll post the winner when I get home. If there are any more late entries, get'em in, I'll consider any image submitted up until I make my decision.

Damn! I really dropped the ball on this one. Forgot all about picking the winner yesterday.

Ok, here goes. I won't offer too much in the way of comments tonight. I have to be up at 4am tomorrow, so I'm hoping to get to bed before 10 tonight, and I still have to pack up the photo gear I need. I'll come back later and add more comments.

The winner would have been Duane's common yellowthroat, but I did say if anyone submitted more than one, I would consider the last one they posted. Duane's hummingbird is still really good, but I like the yellowthroat better.

The top 3 for me then are: Dwayne's pier, Ade's friend's daughter and Brazilliance's peppers.

Congrats to ... Brazilliance. On to you for the next challenge.

Congratulations, Jamie! Whew....I'm sure glad I didn't have to judge this competition. So many good entries, and so many excellent shots. Everyone who entered deserves a thumbs-up for this contest!
