I think I just made a new word! ;) A generalized version of iPhonography.

I hope everyone realizes by now that it doesn't take a big, expensive dSLR to create a great photograph. To quote Chase Jarvis, "The best camera is the one you have with you". In that spirit, post your best photo taken with a camera phone. No dSLR's, compacts, point-n-shoots, or any other type of non-phone camera allowed. Processing is allowed (on or off phone).

Rules:
  • post as many photos as you like, but only the last one will be judged (unless you specifically tell me which one to judge)
  • new photos are encouraged, but no more than 1 year old
  • winner will be announced sometime on Oct 26th

All taken with an iPhone4

:D I just learned my phone had a "text" thingy, now I have to see if it has a camera!

EDIT: how do I get it from the phone to the computer?

My ancient phone (about 6 years old) does have a crude (640 x 480) camera but no way to get the image to the PC without expensive Motorola software. There is no USB "mass storage" option and no SD card to move around.

Hey Mike, can I use my 640 x 480 webcam instead?

My co-worker said I can snap the photo, "send" it to his Droid and he can email the photo to me. Ah....technology! :D

Man, time for people to update their technology

OK, for the techno-challenged out there, the camera does not have to be attached to a phone. Any type of non-traditional or non-dedicated camera. That includes webcams, iPad2, Nintendo DS, or any other device with a camera. Run down to your local spy shop (or Amazon) and by yourself a secret pen camera ;) .

Im using Instagram, normally used to post to facebook but it saves the shots and has lots of preset templates to play with, there are a few other apps as well when I think of them :D oh yeah Chase Jarvis has an app called "best camera" but its not free, I only do free apps being a tight northern git

The fact that my phone has a camera is incidental. I certainly didn't select it for its photographic capabilities. I still like using it for a bit of fun from time to time.

Count me out on this challenge, my phone doesn't understand the concept of "focus". Nearly 30 futile attempts.

Ok, this forum seems to be alternative camera challenged, so I'm gonna post a new challenge. Watch for it. Thanks to those who did post something.

Nice images!

Just out of curiosity I unpacked the SB800, stuck it in SU-4 slave mode and tried triggering it via my phone's flash. Sadly the duration's too long so it won't work.

I'd be sorely tempted in that situation to try continuous just using the modelling bulbs in my strobes turned up high though. Light levels won't be fantastic but they won't be more than a stop or two max behind a full proper continuous rig. Better than nothing!
