Hi Friends, Mia here having the great honor to host this Challenge which will be ...

Challenge #115 and the subject is CONCEPTUAL, that is, an image that describes an idea, message, thought or concept (with or without
a fitting title). The image can be heavily edited, provocative or funny etc, that's entirely up to you...

From Wikipedia:
"Usually the conception of the idea precedes the realization of the photography.[2] This kind of photography often involves use of computer editing to achieve the desired effects, but many artists work without the computer. They "put in place" the things and the beings that will be the subject of the final photograph, and the placement of those things and beings "build" the concept, the idea, and the final outcome..."

2 entries per person only please, and from as far back as you like, but of course great if created for the Challenge...

You have til November 30 to enter and then the winner will be selected.

If it's not clear to you what is meant by a conceptual image, here are some links to check out:

http://www.designsmag.com/2011/06/110-stunning-examples-of-conceptual-photography/

http://pixeltango.com/inspiration/photography/brilliant-examples-of-conceptual-photography/

And some of my humble efforts to start us off.

#1 is an example that is "natural" with minimal editing.
#2 was built on the idea and then a texture added,
#3 is what I'd call digital art. The image is
built around two photos of mine which were then "played with" lol...

Have fun, that's the most important! :D :D

Cheers

This won challenge 53 - Books. Don't think it's fair to enter this again, just thought I would post it anyways :). Will try to enter something else shortly!

They are both lovely and fit the bill Jamie. "Books" is beautiful and romantic and "Sunrise" is a perfect example
of how the title helps bring another dimension to an image! Thanks for sharing these....

An early experiment on the subject of "cloning":

Image
Dolly by timmygstyle, on Flickr

It starts with a photo (a digital copy of part of the world). That photo is of a sheep, the first mammal to be successfully cloned. The picture itself is "cloned" and the whole style of the image is copied directly from the artist Andy Warhol (a style often copied by numerous artists). This picture has so many levels; if you've seen the movie "Inception", this picture is just like that...

Thanks for your contribution Timmy, your sheepish Warhol inspiration made me smile! And
yes, I can connect this to the levels in Inception (what an intriguing movie! )

Here's #2. By the way, both shots were made for this challenge.

1. I picked an old beach photo for this project because it already had the front-loader working in that area of the beach,.
2. If I had known how long it would take to make and fit the scaffolding, I don't think I would have attempted this. LOL!
3. TITLE: FACADE

You are just under the wire Bambi and thank you for that very good conceptual
image. It sure looks like the fruit is frozen in time!

Folks thanks for your contributions, it was such fun seeing what you came up with.
I will now try to make the hard decision of who is the winner... :?

And the winner is -----drum roll -----KimR, who made me laugh so hard every time I looked at his image... : I think
it was the juxtaposition with the leggy banana in the river that did it...
Well done Kim and not bad winning the first time you enter the Challenge. Now it's your turn for the
next one....

Honorable mention to Patrish for her Facade entry. I almost fell for that one
Thanks everyone who took part :)
