There are places in the world where man once lived, once made a mark on the earth, but those places are no longer used and have been abandoned or forgotten. Can you think of places like this?

Terms:
Each photograph must consist of a subject that has been lost, abandoned or forgotten (eg. abandoned house or barn, archeological structures, medieval ruins, urban decay, etc.)

• Up to three images per poster
• Photos may have been shot as far back as you like
• Bonus points for shots taken during the challenge (Must indicate in your post)
• Challenge expires on 4/28/2012

Good luck!

Can I suggest we extend this one by a week? I may be able to get some shots in from a trip I am planning if I can get a bit more time. If not you'll be stuck with some from my (not very extensive) archives ;)

Congrats on the win, and I'm loving that car in the last one!

I hope you don't mind but being from Detroit area I should keep the photos local. So I'm changing two. :)

Great shots, guys! This one's going be tough to pick, I can tell already.

No, I'm not submitting for my own challenge. I just thought I'd share this one today in the spirit of Friday the 13th. Just got this a couple weeks ago in Utah.

Ok, thanks for waiting for me ;)

I went this week to Cartagena, the historic port in the south of Spain. Unfortunately it was the midday sun, so I am not particularly happy with the series of photos I took, but I am still working through them so hopefully I'll find something I like. In the meantime I thought this image was particularly apt for this challenge:

Image
Forgotten by timmygstyle, on Flickr

These columns are excavated from what would be a tiled floor in a Roman bath house. Steam would be fed through here to heat the room above. This is a very recent dig and has only been open to the public for the last 2 weeks. It looks like something else has been forgotten more recently here too ;)

Ok, you guys have seriously made this one hard for me? How do I choose between such amazing shots?

Scott, your cabin near Powder, Oregon is just awesome as is the rusted ship!
Philip, love the inside of that abandoned building!
Walter those piers and the reflection of them looks amazing!
Patrish, that b/w castle shot from Ocho Rios is really cool!
Timmy, love that temple shot! Great pov!
Thunder, great urban grunge shot of that building!

In the end, it was very hard to decide but there can only be one winner:

Bambi, love that boat washed ashore! Awesome detail and tone! Everything about that shot is technically spectacular! The winner of this challenge is "A Boat".

Bambi, congratulations, great job! You're up!
