Well, here goes. As discussed in this post, I'm starting a 365 Project this year. The aim is to push myself to try new things with photography. I'm hoping it will be a great (although tough) learning experience for me and by the end of it, I hope to have improved my technique and the end results of my images. A few others have expressed an interest in joining in so I figured I'd start a thread were we can all post our efforts. I'm not sure if this is the correct place for it, but as the main aim is to learn and improve, I figured the University i as good a place as any.

The only rule I have made is you must take 1 photo a day (although you don't necessarily have to process and post it the same day). It would be good if you can note anything you learnt whilst taking or processing a particular image. Lets see how we get on. Feel free to join in at any point..

This is my first ever attempt at a "clone" self portrait. I was quite happy with the end result (although I can see a number of errors)

The main lesson this little project taught me was I need to find a sturdier tripod head! The one I have is a stills/video combo head, so it has a smooth sliding motion. Unfortunately I didn't tighten it enough and it wasn't until post processing that I discovered the camera had moved slightly between each shot!! This obviously made the "merging" of images much more complicated, and took a fair while. Oh well, at least I'll know for next time ;)

Timmy, this is so cool! I think you did a great job, and if there are a "number of errors" I'm not seeing them. It had me laughing out loud! The set-up is quite original, and I love your facial expressions. But the icing on the cake is the "you" who fell asleep. Very original! :D

Thanks Patrish! I seem to have gone down some strange staged photo setup/photoshop comedy route with this 365. I think it's because it's still dark at night, i'm back to work and I'm trying to avoid pictures of random objects as much as possible!

Anyway as it looks like i'm the only one posting here at the moment, I won't bore you you all my images so far (7 days down, 358 to go!). I'm finding it challenging, but also fun and I'm begining to think more creatively (inspiration seems to snowball it seems when you force yourself to be creative). Here's a selection from the past week:

In the next couple of days I'll do a black & white image that will cover my daily photo and give me something to enter in your excellent challenge running atm :)

This location looks good to me. I will probably only post a few of my 365 project images here. I think the main thing for me is the project has me thinking about shooting every day with my cell phone or with my DSLR.

This is why the most important camera you own is the one you have with you. This is an excellent photo. I would probably have cropped it to an 8x10 format to get rid of the yellow across the top. I really like this. Is the grain added or just from the cell phone? It reminds me old high iso film.

I'm REALLY enjoying this string of shots. Please keep them going. There's so much originality here!

Well if you insist! Scott I really like you first three shots. I've just realised I haven't yet been outside for any of mine (they are all indoor projects) but hopefully I'll try and get out over the weekend., anyway, here's a few more:

Arron, that is natural grain from the cell phone. I agree a crop is in order.

I am also enjoying the images here, like I said with this project going I am thinking about some sort of image everyday and making many. I have only be posting the ones I really like.

I can't say that I <3 marmite, but I did learn to enjoy a vegimite sandwich while I was in OZ.

Timmy,

I tried the 365 idea once...the flu put my attempt to a halt, so I missed 3 days. If I were to try again I would attempt new processes like your cloning ideas etc.

This year I would like to photograph something new... a "Shutter List" (aka bucket list), like a bobcat, cougar or Arena Football.

Phillip, you are form Michigan, I never saw so many rusted cars as when I was there. However this truck I was driving was held together by rust and moss. ;-)

you're really getting some great shots in this series, all too often I see people do 365 projects that just become lazy photos being taken just to get something for the day. you definitely don't seem to have fallen into that trap. These photos are all excellent.

Thanks Laz, I wouldn't be so sure! All to often I seem to be falling back to a quick snapshot with my mobile, or whatever I'm having for dinner. I just know not to post them here :)

It really is a chore some days and others i have a flash of inspiration and come up with something I like. The only problem is I rarely get time to perfect an image before it's on to the next one. I haven't been able to grab more than an hour or so to come up with an idea, shoot, process and upload. i guess the same would be true regardless of whether I was doing a 365 or not. Anyway, I'm up to day 80 today so only another 285 to go!
