I decide to go out shooting nice and early this morning, without really taking into account the fact that it would only be about 5 degrees.
When I got to my chosen location though, I was far from the only person out in the cold- a very popular place to fish it seems.

Anyway, the sun gave me some nice pastel colors to work with.
These were all taken at Mordialloc (Melbourne) - first time I've ever been there, but it's quite an easy place to find some subjects.

Are all those people fishing?

These turned out quite well especially the first one. Great composition and nice reflection in the water.
The sky has nice pink tones to it. Well done.

Yes- really surprised me just how many people were out on the pier. Made it a bit of a dilemma for shutter speeds- whether to let people blur or try and keep them sharp at the cost of DOF/Noise.

The pink tones in the first were one of those things "the camera sees'" - Looking at the sky I could not see the color but after a 30 second exposure, there it was.
Thanks for the comments.

Laz, these are all very, very good. I really enjoyed the composition, colors and details in each one.

Thanks Patrish, I was quite happy with how they turned out- made it worth not being able to feel my hands for nearly 3 hours!

Very nice technigue Lazarus. You've really captured those beautiful sky colours....who would have guessed that you wouldn't be able to see them without an extended exposure! Even without these dramatic skies there are still lots of photo opportunities and you have done a good job of them...and that lens is a very good piece of glass! Thanks for sharing your work.

These photos are shot with a Tamron 28-75 (1&2) and a tokina 12-24 (#3) - both lenses I believe I was recommended by members of this forum (or PT) - the tokina was actually the first lens I ever purchased, about 7-8 years ago.

Thanks for the response.

Perfect exposure great compositon...aren't morns by water great?...Lil chilly but worth getting out there for glassy smooth water so you can get great reflection shots like you have captured here...I love taking low light shots but they are a challenge....you nailed it...pics to be proud of.
