Somehow they still have a "film" look to them. Is this an intentional part of the processing?

Tim, my taste certainly has been used to the film so I tend to go for more natural look without extra saturation that usually goes with HDR processing. I also stay away from the "clarity" setting in Photoshop/Lightroom to keep the natural look for the scene. I think the film look is actually the circular polarizer and grad ND filter that still maintains most of the highlight detail. It still lost some highlight detail that film would have had no problem keeping even without any filters.

I shoot velvia that works very much like digital but can typically give much more resolution that my 5D MKII.

First shot is great, love all the reflections going on in that one. That third shot I would probably like B/W. Nice set!
